The First Meeting – Making Progress

The initial meeting of the Westchester Indie Authors Group met in Scarsdale, NY on Wednesday, 16th April, 2014. The first meeting was an organizational meeting and a chance for the participants to meet one another, discuss their situations and what they felt was the raison d’etre of the group. A mission statement will be drafted for the next meeting.

Primarily it was agreed that the group members would share ideas about increasing local awareness of their published works. Also, the group would arrange events to interact with audiences to speak about their experiences in getting their works published.

Two of the attendees were Mel Parish of Scarsdale and David Deutsch of Rye Brook. They discussed their own publishing experiences as well as how to attract a core group of people to attend the meetings and contribute their knowledge.

Writing under the name d.r. deutsch, Mr. Deutsch is the author of three books of poetry, including his most recent book, Beware: Here Be Dragons published last October, 2013 by The Wading River Press. He also has had more than three dozen poems published in various “little magazines.”

Mel Parish who writes in the mystery and thriller genre has published three books titled: Silent Lies, Ulterior Motives and The Anniversary.

The next meeting will be at Panera Bread in Port Chester, NY on April 23, 2014 at 7:00 PM. All writers of any genre invited. For additional information email westchesterindieauthors@aol.com
